Well, Shark Week has done it again. "Shark of Darkness: Wrath of Submarine," about a mythical 30-foot great white prowling South African waters, is another fake documentary. As an antidote, each day this week we'll be sharing videos about sharks that contain actual facts.

In four minutes and forty-nine seconds, Joe Hanson's video about what would happen in a world without sharks contains more actual science than the entire fake-u-mentary that aired last night.

If that doesn't seem like enough reality to counter the effects of last night's nonsense, then here's a second helping of elasmobranch science. The Brain Scoop's Emily Graslie tells us why sharks are so interesting anyway and why we're a bigger threat to them than they are to us.
